Private Cellar Wine List
1995 Krug Brut Champagne, Reims, France - $325 98 points Wine Spectator: "A profound wine of great depth and complexity. Its detailed flavors range from citrus and ginger to whole grain bread and woodsy richness, with accents of honey and nuts. Retains its focus thanks to a vibrant structure, all the time carrying its weight with authority and grace. Fine, smoky finish. Drink now through 2020."
2005 Brewer-Clifton “Sea Smoke” Chardonnay, Santa Rita Hills- $110 This prestigious vineyard is planted to dijonnaise clones 76, 95 and 96. The block is in metz loamy sand and is situated on a small mesa immediately above the Santa Ynez River. Lime green and yellow in color. Aromas of apricot skin, cherimoya and salinity followed by flavors of pineapple, cactus and ginger.
2005 Tantara “Pisoni Vineyard” Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia, California - $110 Bold yet refined, this very unique interpretation of pinot noir is part site, part clone viticulture. All vineyards of coarse have these same components. What makes this one so unusual is the seamless integration of these parts. Maybe that is why the wines have such depth, balance and flavor.
2005 Brewer-Clifton “Ashley’s” Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills - $150 Born of an obsession with Santa Barbara County terroir, Brewer-Clifton was formed in the 1990’s by Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton. Their efforts focus solely on the production of vineyard designated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from carefully selected, extreme vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills appellation. Owned by the Parker family and named after Fess’s daughter, Ashley, this diverse vineyard is farmed with two specific blocks of pinot noir planted on steep clay-loam slopes. Aromas of rose petal, white miso and wild berries followed by flavors of dried mission fig and rhubarb.
2004 Pahlmeyer, Merlot, Napa Valley, California - $200 A huge nose of melted chocolate, roasted coffee, black cherry, and charcoal jumps from the glass of this full-bodied, opulent, sexy merlot. Scored 90 points from Robert Parker
2004 Sea Smoke “Botella” Santa Rita Hills - $135 Dark ruby in color and has a bright, fruit forward nose of cola, cherries, wild berries, and exotic spices that meld beautifully together. This wine is lively yet sophisticated on the palate. A broad mouth is followed with rich, chewy tannins and a pleasingly long, crisp finish.
1999 Far Niente Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon, “Cave Collection” Napa - $325 This magnificent vintage Cabernet displays substantial cassis and dark blackberry aromas that are mirrored on the palate with the extra density and depth that come from an excellent vintage and low vineyard production. The lush ripeness marries particularly well with the toasty char of French oak. This wine has all the layers and structure typical of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon.
2004 Justin Vineyards & Winery “Isosceles” 2004, Paso Robles, California - $150 Inky blue in color with a slight purple overtone around the rim. Aromas of blueberry, black cherry, and cassis fill the glass. Soft and velvety and filled with bright fruit, lengthy tannins that evolve into a finish that combines flavors of coffee, dark fruits, and hints of vanilla and carmel
